Camp programs

Camp programs

All our camp programs are designed to engage our students' minds and bodies. Each day of camp will include time for instruction where students learn and practice the concepts being taught in each course, as well as active/outdoor time where they will engage in team building and recreational activities. This summer we will be offering weekly camp programs in Robotics, Creative Computing, and STEM Explorations for participant ages 8 to 16 (see the program descriptions below for more details). As most of our course curriculla involve collaborative work, the team building activities are an integral part of the learning and discovery process.

Mobile robotics systems (Ages 10-16 )

  • Campers will work in teams of 3 or 4 and spend time discovering and exploring the world of robotics using the VEX IQ robotics platform.

  • Campers will learn how to build and program user driven and autonomous robots.

  • Each camper in the team will be assigned a role for each day of camp (project manager, software engineer etc) that allows each camper to understand the engineering and design process.

  • Campers will work towards a project in which the final product will be presented on the last day of camp.

Robotics

Creative computing (Ages 10-16)

  • Campers in this program will create their own animations, interactive stories and games using the Scratch programming interface.

  • They will work individually as well as in pairs, and be allowed to choose from a set of themes from which they will design a project to work on and present on the last day of camp.

Programming

STEM Explorations Lab (Ages 8-10)

  • In this program, your child will learn how things work through fun, hands-on experiments.

  • Each day we will explore different concepts in areas such as Physics, Genomics, Energy, Chemistry, Engineering, Virtual Reality, computer science, etc) and complete related experiments.

  • Campers will get daily/weekly assignments which they can take home reinforcing what was learned during the day and sometimes extending the experiments with their parents at home.

  • At the end of each week campers participate in a science fair in which they showcase one of their favorite experiments/projects they worked on during the week.
